Bookstore
The St. Demetrios Bookstore is a ministry of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, established to provide spiritual and literary resources supporting the Orthodox faith. The bookstore ministry was started nearly 40 years ago and continues to evolve while providing support to both the parish and the community. The once pop-up operation, which appeared at coffee hours and the yearly St. Demetrios Greek Festival, has been lovingly attended to, and along with generous donations and the skill of talented craftsmen now has a permanent home.
The bookstore inventory is diverse and includes gift items, icons, and books. There are over 100 titles including various adult and children’s Bibles as well as books on the Orthodox faith, Divine Liturgy, prayer, those by and about saints and elders, spirituality, cookbooks, and children’s books. There is also a large variety of beautiful icons including Christ, Theotokos, angels, feast days, and male and female saints. Different sizes and new styles of diptychs and triptychs are brought in on a regular basis and censors, incense, charcoal, corks, and wicks are always available.
Many of the items in the bookstore are from Orthodox publishers or Greek Orthodox monasteries. For example, the prayer ropes are made at the monasteries and different colors and materials (wool and satin) are available throughout the seasons. Gift items include Holy Water bottles, greeting cards, bookmarks, tapestry pouches, nightlights, and keychains in addition to seasonal items.
Gift certificates are available in any amount and special orders can be placed for icons or custom prayer ropes.
The bookstore is staffed Sundays after liturgy and can be accessed throughout the week during the hours the church office is open.
